9/11/2018 Ruckus Backblast
PAX: Splinter, Minnie, Billy Bob, Holth, Hustle, Hacksaw, Beaker, Brute, Ollie, Koko, Motorboat, Deuce (Respect, Respect), Norwood (Respect), Elena
QIC: Klinger
At 0515, YHC entered the circle of men and went over the 5 core principles of F3 and gave a disclaimer. Since it was 9/11, the ruck for the morning was meant to serve as a tribute to all the people who died on this day in 2001. In total, 2996 people lost their lives: 2606 inside the 2 World Trade Center Buildings, 265 passengers on the 4 hijacked planes, and 125 people at the Pentagon. Among the dead were 343 Firefighters, 37 Port Authority officers, and 23 NYC Police officers.
The original 1 World Trade Center building was 1,368 feet tall and had 110 floors. Nearly impossible to replicate, especially in Toledo, OH, but the goal was to get as much climbing in as possible. The hill at the Ruckus AO has roughly 30 feet of ascent. Doing some simple math put us at going up the hill 45.6 times. YHC rounded it up to 46 just because. The PAX partnered up and were told the goal was for the team of 2 to go up and down 23 times, thus equaling 46 trips. Nothing fancy, just up and down. A shovel flag was posted at the bottom and the top to serve as turn around points. Other shovel flags were planted along the hill to serve as some motivation.
And with that, with songs about America and 9/11 playing, YHC led the PAX down to the start. And then to the top, and then back down, and then to the top, and then back down, and then to the top…until we had done it 23 times. Each man completed all 23 trips – no stopping, no breaks, no complaining. Aye!!

Know the 6 – Hacksaw talked about how his first post was a ruck (Mogadishu Mile led by Belding) and how he has so many good memories of the special events we’ve done (GoRuck Tough Cincy, GrowRuck, The Frog) together as a group and how we push each other to do more than we think is possible.
COT – prayer intentions were given and YHC closed us out with a prayer
Stats (per YHC’s watch): 2.55 miles traveled, 45:12 time elapsed, 650 feet of elevation, 550 calories burned
Good work men!
