   11/28/17 The Ruckus Backblast

   PAX (24): The Colonel, Jimmy Dean, Dauber, Rose, Stamper, Hustle, Trinity, El Chapo, Froman, Mater, Kitty, Yorkie, Wake, Scrooge, Ozzie, The Mayor, Honeymoon, Bluto, Mr. Belding, Splinter, Sipe, Mailman, and FNG Cousteau (Kurt Soltman)

   A perfect morning for a ruck greeted us today with clear skies, a nice southerly breeze, and bright stars! One FNG posted today, Kurt Soltman (now known as Cousteau), and he was greeted warmly and given an explanation of the principles of F3 as well as the disclaimer.

   The goal for the day was to get some good miles in prior to the GoRuck Tough that a large group of PAX are taking part in this Friday/Saturday in Cincinnati. PAX formed into 2 columns, and we headed North on Main Street, turning right on Monroe St. Next, we made our way through Harroun Park and crossed over Harroun Rd. The PAX didn’t know it, but YHC had a new destination in mind! As we headed South on Harroun, we turned left into Flower Hospital and made our way back to the parking deck. Once there, we carefully climbed up to the top of the deck, descended down the stairs, and then repeated the climb/descent one more time. It wasn’t too strenuous of a climb, but seemed to be enjoyed by the PAX. Definitely has some potential for future beatdowns!

   Exiting Flower, we traveled North on Harroun, then West on Monroe, and South onto Main St. From there, we again entered Harroun Park by the Wingate Hotel (single file past the equipment obstacle). We crossed the bridge over 10 Mile Creek and then made one final climb up the hill to the parking lot.

   COT: Nameorama and Countorama commenced. Special thanks to the PAX for not letting me forget to name our FNG! Cousteau, welcome to the group and hope to see you again in the gloom! Prayer intentions were given for Bluto’s father, the Helton family, and for Rose’s friend. BOM led by YHC.

   As I mentioned in the COT, my GPS did not work while we were at the parking deck, so I don’t have accurate data as far as total distance or pace. But it was close to 4 miles in just under 52 minutes. And, I’m not sure of the accuracy of the elevation gain numbers due to the same reason, but I had 155 ft of gain. Either way, it was a proper Ruckus!!

   The opportunity to lead this group of men is not taken lightly, and it is an honor each time. It’s still unbelievable to me that rucking has caught on with this group, and I look forward to it every week! Good Livin’!!
