Boot camp style workout. On the River. Amazing way to watch the sun come up and start the day with sweat pouring over your rejuvenated soul. Some ramps, lots of steps, a little concrete, a little grass, all the fixens for beautifully scripted beatdown!

You have to park at Hood Park, Downtown Perrysburg, or one of the side streets (i.e. Cherry, Walnut, or Second Street).

    “The Thang”
It was a brisk morning braved by 16 PAX.
We started with 21’s in “Super Secret Cadence”. This group of HIM needed no second round of 21’s, all ended the silent count uniformly like a machine!

After the warm up I had a sneaking suspicion we may have some extra time by the end of my workout and we headed to the next section…stretching.

The PAX circled me as I led these HIM through a series of stretches. From the sound of the PAX surrounding me it appeared that these stretches were much needed.

We then moved on to the Core excercises I had planned for the PAX this morning. We started in a plank where we counted around our circle 3x around. Some PAX seemed to forget what number came next. Plank is a hell of a workout.

We then moved onto the next leg – a 20 count in cadence as a super solid circle of men. We did the following exercises:
    Plank Jack’s to Tuck Jump
    Jack Knife Crunches
    Crab Reaches
    Half Get Ups
    Plank Tucks
    Imperial Walkers
    Squat Crawl Push Ups

During these workouts, layers were removed and it seemed the hearts were pumping from the PAX that surrounded me.

By the end of this series of workouts, I realized the extra time I suspected to have was a reality.

Luckily, Crablegs mentioned to Stark and I this cool game he had played and what a great workout it was. I had faith in the creativity of Crablegs and I respect his opinion so I decided to give Crablegs the circle and explain this game.

I do not remember the name of this game but I know we will do it again!

We split up into 2 groups of 8. Seven men created a circle shoulder to shoulder while 1 man stood outside the circle. Within the circle of 7 men 1 man was a target. The man outside the circle’s objective was to tag this target. The 7 men in the circle would need to stay together and rotate in either direction to protect the target from being tagged by the 1 man outside the circle. There was a 30 second timer, if the target was tagged the circle owed 5 burpees. If the target was not tagged within 30 seconds the man outside the circle owed 5 burpees.

We had 3 to 4 rounds of this game and Crablegs was right! It was fun and your heart rate doing this activity became vigorous.

I believe only one target was tagged out of the 4 rounds and it was the “speed of Spaulding” running around hunting the circle for his target that made that happen.

We all had a lot of fun and we were also blessed to be joined by Ombre, one of our brothers from another region, Atlanta GA. “Cherokee” F3. I am inspired not only by the men carrying their discipline to a workout in the town they live in but also men like Ombre who find the discipline to come out to an AO they may not be familiar with and a group of men they may not know yet. Men like that inspire me because in life we have many reasons not to do it and usually only one reason to do it. Sometimes it’s only “the right thing to do” and that’s all that should be needed. Thank you Ombre, I think I can speak for all of us from F3 Toledo and say we cant wait to see you again!

We ended in the circle of trust. The six was Coal and he as usual lifted the men around him as inspirations.

We had announcements and prayed. We came in as men in the brisk cold air and left as winners braving the elements and starting our day with the right thing.
