Typical routine: warm-up with Merkins, stretching, side-straddle-hops, etc.  Then proceed to the track and/or field for running mixed with strength training.  Finish off with the C.O.P (circle of pain) for merkins, planks, ab work, supermans, etc.

    Mission
    5 Principles

    Warm ups
    SSH
    Windmill
    Merkins
    Burpees

Mayor shared some of Dr Martin Luther King Jr’s teachings
MLK encouraged everyone to have a Blueprint for our life. He also tasked us to maintain core principles including:
    1. Dignity – believe in yourself…
    2. Achieve Excellence in whatever you decide to do with your life.
In conclusion, he said “If you can’t fly, run. If you can’t run, walk. If you can’t walk, then crawl…but you must keep moving forward” (with your blueprint in life in your pursuit to achieve excellence).

1964 MLK was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize (we utilized 1964 in our reps)

We started at the shovel flag with 19 Side Straddle Hops to signify flying (4 count, 2 is 1)
Then we couldn’t fly anymore so we ran to the flag in front of Southview HS. As we approached, we could no longer run, so we walked a couple of steps. We could no longer walk, so we bear crawled to the flag.
At the flag we remembered MLK’s Nobel Peace Prize in 1964 with:
    19 Merkins
    6 Windmills
    4 Burpees

Mayor shared the quote about MLK encouraging us to have a Blueprint (see above).

Repeato with the flying 19 SSH, then we ran to flag at the Library where Tupac shared that MLK was born with the name of Michael. When he was young his father was so inspired by the teachings of Martin Luther, that he took the name of MLK and changed his son’s name to MLK, Jr.

Repeato at flag at Dental Health Assoc. where Sipe shared a story of a picture given to him by his former boss. It’s a picture of a door symbolizing a barrier. Quoting MLK “I am convinced that men hate each other because they fear each other. They fear each other because they don’t know each other, and they don’t know each other because they don’t communicate with each other, and they don’t communicate with each other because they are separated from each other” May we open the door and communicate.

Repeato to Credit Union but upon arrival the snow crews were removing the 3 inches of fresh snow, so we did an audible and ran back to the Library where Rose shared the MLK quote “The time is always right…to do what is right.”

Repeato to shovel flag for a final remembrance of the Nobel Peace Prize awarded to MLK in 1964. Jimmy Dean shared a final quote that “The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.”

We ended in a circle of trust. Ollie was the 6 and shared some great words. Finally, We prayed for Josh to find his camera (special request from Tupac), we prayed for the sacred bond of marriage to heal for the PAX members that are working thru marital issues. We also prayed for Sipe’s wife to receive favorable results tomorrow and thanked God for Gap’s successful upbringing of his middle son and to bless that son’s upcoming wedding.
May we all think about the inspiring words from Dr Martin Luther King, Jr. as we live our lives and when we observe racism or any type of discrimination, may we have the courage to stand up for what is right.
