What the ruck is a ruck? A hike with a weighted backpack (approx 30 lbs) while stopping along the brisk walk to do some invigorating exercise. Excellent 1st F (fitness) and 2nd F (fellowship). If an FNG (Friendly New Guy) is a bit timid to post for a workout the ruck is a great intro to the pax.
BACKBLAST_ Not so Rainy Ruck Challenge
11 PAX : Stark, Virus, Cobra, Spaulding, Peepers, Zig Zag, Monopoly, Turbo, Baxter, Shrinkage, Q: Schizo.
INTRO- The 3F’s, F3 mission statement, 5 Core principals.
RUCK- start time 5:38 AM end time 6:22 AM.
3.15 miles in 44 minutes.
(Sidenote: initially I had stated that the ruck would be 4+ miles. I am a dinosaur who needs to figure out to work / calibrate his smart watch.)
While I apologize we did not get in a full 4 miles in, I am thrilled to say we averaged a 13.95 minute mile. My wife tells me it’s not the length, but cadence that counts. Great pace guys.
POST RUCK- 3 or 4 sets of 20 leg lifts, up and down planks (hands to elbows on 10 count)
COT- intentions, thoughts and a well put ending prayer from Stark. He always says exactly what I need to hear.
Finally….I would like to thank everyone for bearing with this decades long couch potato as I SLOWLY get up to speed. It is an honor to be a part of a group of good like minded men.
