The running buds broke from the rest of the beatdown group to do the principles and warmups. We wanted to get a real workout in instead of that weak sauce Hedgehog was about to bring. YHC remembered to do the principles this time and recited the 5 core principles, then we did a quick warm up of 10 SSH’s.

    The Thang:
Run. That’s about it. The intent was to go at a slower pace (easy for some, harder for some) to attempt to keep the group together. Well that quickly went out the window. We have many different running levels in the group and some want to get a fast run in and some want an easy run, which is good. You vs. you. The important thing is we all got a good run in and improved. I think future runs will be you vs. you, do what you can. We just need to make sure we clearly spell out the running route prior to leaving so everyone knows where they are going. We left Faith Hill (new run AO name TBD) and headed north up Silica, then east on Monroe to downtown Sylvania, then north through Sylvania to Erie, then west on Erie St. to the Highland Meadows Golf Course parking lot. At this point Colonel and Ozzie decided to continue on to Highland Elementary. I like to think that they were just pushing themselves and it wasn’t due to ambiguous directions from YHC. I’m pretty sure I said Highland golf course in the circle and not just Highland, which could have been misconstrued as Highland Elementary. We then turned around at Highland GOLF COURSE and headed back to Faith Hill.

Upon returning to Faith Hill we had about 10 minutes to spare. Having seen the weak “beatdown” that was in progress (just kidding Hedgehog…I know you brought the pain. I didn’t want any part of that tire), the running buds decided to do one round of BLIMPS while waiting for the COT. We made it through one round (10-20-30-40-50-60) and started again. Got through 10 burpees when the beatdown Q called for the COT.

Ended with a joint (not that kind of joint) count-o-rama, name-o-rama, and COT.

This was a nice changeup to address a problematic Monday morning workout. YHC liked coming back together as a group for the COT. I thank the leaders for allowing me to be the site run Q for Mondays and it was an honor to lead/run with the running buds. Looking forward to many more runs!
