What the ruck is a ruck?  A hike with a weighted backpack (approx 30 lbs) while stopping along the brisk walk to do some invigorating exercise. Excellent 1st F (fitness) and 2nd F (fellowship). If an FNG (Friendly New Guy) is a bit timid to post for a workout the ruck is a great intro to the pax.

    2X2 Morning Ruck (The Necropolis)
    07-10-18
    Back Blast:

Pax: Jennay, Tots, Buttermaker, Flo, Raven, Boulder, Stark, Chip N Dale, Ponzi, Casper, Ticket, Bambi, Rooster, Woodstock, Bourbon, Q-bert, Tupac, Dutch, Montoya.
    VQ: Haz-Mat

    The Thang:
Started the morning off with The Mission, 5 Principles and Disclaimer. Did a Count O Rama to find 20 Pax.

It was truly a special morning, “Ticket” decided to share his birthday gloom with us so we shared 43 “Merkins” as a group to honor his 43 years of wisdom . It was also his first ruck @ “The Necropolis”. We also had Jennay post his 100th this morning! What an honor it is to celebrate a milestone like this as a group and I look forward to his 100th Q. We also had Flo just 1 post shy of his 100, currently at 99 so we look forward to celebrating his 100th at the next post.

We had a lot of fun banter as a group planning this particular gloom. The runners decided that they would run an hour early so that they could support the VQ on his first time leading a ruck. As the VQ, I felt blessed, honored, and encouraged by the men who decided to shift their schedules to share this moment with me. It made it special and I look forward to sharing this encouragement with other VQ’s and Q’s in the future.
It is a commitment to stand in front of 20 men, 20 fit men that I respect and attempt to lead them through a work out that I’m not even sure I can do, so thank you. That truly touched my heart.

We started off in formation, 2X2, Charlotte carried by 2 Pax with a 2 minute rotation. We headed towards the Fort walls where we found our first “opportunity”, a hill where we did “Reverse Ruck Climbs”, 5 in total. Buttermaker and Bambi decided to carry Charlotte and their ruck packs backwards up this hill. Mad props!
In honor of Jennay’s 100th post we did 100 arm raises throughout the ruck. Also in honor of Flo being one short of 100 we did 99 more arm raises, totaling 199 arm raises through out the ruck.

As we took in the beautiful gloom, at this historic site we climbed some hills and made it to our first clearing where we did a “Circle Plank” and counted around 3 times which should have ended on 60 but somehow managed to get to 62? Then we did 25, 2 is 1 “American Hammers” with our packs in hand.

We ruck on as a strong team, getting stronger and find our next opportunity, another incline. 2X2 the team turns 180 degrees Charlotte on shoulders and we perform our second “Reverse Ruck Climb” to the top.

The team made their way back to the starting point where we formed the “Circle of Trust. We did the COR and the NOR.

Stark strategically called out the starting point of the COR to place Boulder as the six. Much to our enjoyment,(Boulder is a great story teller) we listened and laughed as he told his EH story and then he shared his wise words of what F3 means to him and ended by sharing how he got the name “Boulder”.

We ended with thoughts and prayers.

PAX were thankful for our first responders and we prayed for their safety. We also prayed for healing for our loved ones and wisdom for the doctors as they treat them. We also prayed for the families as they wrestle with uncertainty and the wisdom to seek God. Prayer ended with us wanting the will of God over our own.
