Perrysburg, ruck

What the ruck is a ruck?  A hike with a weighted backpack (approx 30 lbs) while stopping along the brisk walk to do some invigorating exercise. Excellent 1st F (fitness) and 2nd F (fellowship). If an FNG (Friendly New Guy) is a bit timid to post for a workout the ruck is a great intro to the pax.

The Thang: Ruck the Woods and Fields

The runners (Jennay, Dutch & Woodstock) were hardcore and covered 6 miles in about 55 minutes.

The ruckers split up into 4 teams, each with a 35# kettle bell. Each team was responsible for their kettle bell and calling their own rotations if they needed them. The ruck only covered 1.75 miles but there was some fun along the way. The Ruck meandered through the dark to the fort exterior walls and in their teams charged the hill to the wood pillars with the loosing team earning a demerit. All teams were awarded 1 demerit. From there the ruck continued through the woods to the first clearing along the large hill at the backside of the hill. Standing in 2′-3′ tall grass the Q called for a team bear crawl relay race to the top and back. There was a lot of grumbling and even more modifications during this part of the Ruck. The Q did not take into consideration the continued presence of Ticks in long grass. Regardless the relay race commenced. 4 Ruckers with packs bear crawled and crawl beared around 100 yards before tapping in their next team member. Those not racing were instructed to hold squat or plank. All teams lost and were awarded 1 demerit. The ruck continued through the short grass for approximately 1/3rd mile and then the Pax did Merkins with Rucks in cadence. The ruck continued another couple hundred yard and the PAX did squats in cadence. This pattern continued for a while alternating between a couple hundred yards of rucking and PT. The Q also threw in some Cincinnati trivia along the way. PT and rucking continued as time expired and the COT began. The kettle bells were passed around the COT until the closing prayer.

    Ended with Count-O-Rama, Name-O-Rama, CoT

F3 Mission: Fitness, Fellowship, Faith; To plant, serve and grow men’s small workout groups, in order to reinvigorate male community leadership

    Principles of F3:
    • It must be free of charge
    • It must be open to all men
    • It must be held outdoor, rain or shine, hot or cold
    • It must be peer led in a rotating fashion by men who participate in the workout, with no training or certification necessary
    • It must end with a Circle of Trust (COT)

    The Thang:
We took off on a 2.6 mile ruck to The Wall, down Cherry Street, and back to the start point. This ruck was a ruck designed for recovery and not speed as opposed to prior weeks. We kept a steady pace at an average of 17:12/mile.
Lots of great discussion was had; a true 2nd F workout was had and enjoyed.

    Count-O-Rama and Name-O-Rama

Learn about the 6: postponed to after the beatdown

COT / Prayers and Intentions: Thankful for the men of F3 and our abilities to be able to gather and workout like we do.
