Backblast – February 27th, 2019
AO: Field of Dreams – Rolf Park, Maumee, OH
PAX: Geppetto (QIC), TuPac (Respect), Lavar, Mile High, Smoky
Workout: Smells Like and AMRAP Workout
No FNG’s so right into Mission and Principles:
F3 – Fitness, Fellowship, Faith
Mission – Plant, grow and serve small workout groups for men for the invigoration of male community leadership.
The core principles of F3 are that it must:
• Be free of charge
• Be open to all men
• Be held outdoors, rain or shine, heat or cold
• Be led by men who participate in the workout in a rotating fashion, with no training or certification necessary. You versus you. Modify or stop an exercise if you need to. The most important thing is that nobody gets hurt.
• End with a Circle of Trust
The “Thang”:
Warm up in cadence: 15 four count side straddle hops and 15 four count windmills
Four stations, AMRAP within the allotted time. 30-second rest between each station/exercise
Round One: 1:30 duration per exercise
-Mountain Climbers
-Lieutenant Dan’s
-Plank
-Shoulder Taps
Round Two: 2:30 duration per exercise
-Merkins
-Big Boy Sit Ups
-Plank Jacks
-Squats
Round Three: 3:30 duration per exercise
-Imperial Walkers
-Burpees
-Side Straddle Hops
-40 yard run
As this was a “Smells Like an AMRAP Workout” with a tip of the cap to the Nirvana song, the playlist for this workout was centered around 90’s alternative and grunge. Here was the soundtrack for today:
Fell on Black Days – Soundgarden
No Excuses – Alice In Chains
Buddy Holly – Weezer
Bound for the Floor – Local H
Dissident – Pearl Jam
Wonderwall – Oasis
What Would You Say – Dave Matthews Band
One Man Army – Our Lady Peace
Shimmer – Fuel
Vasoline – Stone Temple Pilots
Ended with:
Count-O-Rama – Five
Name-O-Rama
Sharing of the six – We didn’t have six, but we selected Lavar as I don’t think any of us had heard his story yet. He has been posting for about a year. EH’d by Colonel. Keeps coming back for the fellowship. Got his name because he has three boys whose names begin with the same letter, so “Lavar” as in Lavar Ball. Has loved the Winter Challenge and getting out to away AO’s and getting to know PAX better. YHC’s thoughts: Lavar pushes all of us everyday with his intensity and encouragement.
Ball of Man – Prayer of thanks for the great morning and the ability to rise and workout. Prayers for those with injuries or who may be on the mend that God heals them and gets them back out with us. Prayers for Lavar’s family on the passing of his wife’s grandmother. Prayers for TuPac and work projects he has going on right now. And prayers for Smoky’s family as they travel to Tennessee.
Spreadsheets from the Gloom: Temp: Low 20’s, light wind. Parking lot was dry with no ice for the first time in a while, so we were able to get in some great work and even some running on the pavement. Might be time for a new Bluetooth speaker as the battery died near the end of the workout. It was an honor to lead. We all got better today.
