Boot camp style workout at the Shops at Fallen Timbers. Group will meet next to the movie theater. Easy access to the Wabash Cannonball Trail for some running or rucking. Also, plenty of blacktop to make use of, not to mention a little green space across from the theater.

A last second Q that Mercy put together, there are logs at the Battlefield in a children’s play area in front of Granite City. This is a great facet of the Battlefield – although we have been having 2 beatdowns per week out there since March, there is still a lot to explore.

There are only 8 logs, and with 4 showing up for the pre ruck, and 1 pre running, Mercy was nervous about having more than 8 show up. With a strong 7 ready to hit the beatdown, Mercy had the pax do an Indian run (or is it criss cross apple sauce run) 2 laps around the theater – .5 miles in total. That was enough running. Now it was time to go pick a log. They roughly weigh 30 lbs each and are awkward, so they are perfect.

First round was 10 reps of shoulder presses, bicep curls, dips on the log, bent over rows, and squats.

After round 1, the pax carried the logs abive heads to the parking lot for a riff on Route 66. We lunged with our logs, and every 2 lines, we did squats, from 10 reps at the first line all the way down to 1.

We then carried the logs above our heads to the play area for round 2. This time, each exercise was 12 reps each. In addition to the reps in added in merkins on the log, and calf raises, and made up for missing them in the first round – 22 reps.

We then went back to the parking lot with logs above heads. Riff on route 66 – lunges, then merkins in the same format as previously, except we did merkins on every line, instead of skipping a line.

Back at the play area, we did one more round – 15 reps each of every exercise, then ended it with 1 last round of Route 66 – bear crawl to burpee. The final Route 66 round was nice because there was no log – burpees and bear crawls are nice without logs.
