This workout revolved around different facts about Halloween.

Warmed up with 1 lap around the school and began with the fun-filled facts:

1: Halloween dates back over 2000 years (burpee to air squat x 20- 10 burpees and 10 air squats). Jogged halfway around the school.
    2. Halloween existed in medieval times, where young children would dress in costumes and go house to house singing songs or reciting poems in exchange for food or other goods (10 Merkins, 10 plank jacks). Jog halfway around.
    3. Some rituals in the 18th c. involved finding a husband, where women would bob for apples, with the first to get an apple would get married, or she’d look in the mirror and wait for a man’s face to appear who would be her husband (CREEPY), (18 jump-squats). Jog halfway around.
    4. Immigrants from Ireland in the 1840s brought with them some of the traditions we know of today (20 wall-sit kick-outs). Jog halfway around.
    5. Sugar rationing occurred during WWII (no exercise). Jog all the way around.
    6. Halloween is the 2nd largest commercial holiday, 2nd to Christmas (31 imperial walkers, 25 Bonnie Blairs). Jog halfway around.
    7. Americans spend on average $86.79 on Halloween candy, decor, etc. per year (86 air squats split up amongst the 6 pax, 79 air presses). Jog half way around.
    8. The tale of the jack-o-lantern: Stingy Jack was an Irishman who tricked the devil and couldn’t enter Heaven or hell, and wandered the Earth as ‘Jack of the Lantern’ (no exercise). Jog halfway around.
    9. Instead of pumpkins, turnips, potatoes, and beets were used to carve (12 diamond Merkins). Jog halfway around.
    10. Illinois produces 5x more pumpkins than any other state (5 sets of each exercise- 5 burpees, 5 Merkins, 5 air squats). Jog halfway around.
11.Candy corn was originally called ‘Chicken Feed’ due to having a rooster on the front of the box, with the recipe largely unchanged since the 1880s (no exercise). Jog a quarter way around.
    12. The mask from the movie ‘Halloween’ originated in 1978. A person on the set was told to go find a mask. He went and looked at a clown mask and a Cpt. Kirk mask whom William Shatner portrayed. They used the latter mask, cutting the eyes more open and painting it white (10 jump squats). Jog a quarter way around.
    13. The fastest recorded pumpkin carving was 16.47 seconds and only had to carve eyes, a nose, and mouth (16 Merkins, 47 air jabs). No running.
    14. Skittles are the number 1 selling candy overall (no exercise). No run.
    15. Harry Houdini died on Halloween day in 1926 (1 donkey kick, 9 mountain climbers, 2 Yurpees, 6 burpees).

COT, NOR. ‘The 6’ was Mole, an inspiring member of the pax and F3. He gave us his rendition of what F3 means to him and the impact it’s had. Aye!

    Announcements and prayer intentions followed.

Thanks to the 5 who wanted to learn a little more about Halloween. And as always, an honor to lead, and a privilege!

(Special thanks to GoodHousekeeping.com for providing the fun-filled facts).
