Boot camp style workout at the Shops at Fallen Timbers. Group will meet next to the movie theater. Easy access to the Wabash Cannonball Trail for some running or rucking. Also, plenty of blacktop to make use of, not to mention a little green space across from the theater.
The Battlefield – War Between Ohio and Michigan Beatdown!
Since the Ohio State vs Michigan Game kick-off is at noon today I figured it was time to find out where the heated rivalry started, and it wasn’t Bo and Woody that got this started, but a border battle in the early 1800’s called the War for the Toledo Strip. If there is any further interest, the history of this is easy to find on the web.
We started as we normally do with an F3 Intro, our mission statement, and our core principles (and the disclaimer). The PAX got off to a fast start as we went through the 4 stations and demoed any exercises that might be in question. We went around in a loop circuit for each round. The loop started at station 1 which was the “Log Pit” for some work with the logs, then to the Fire Pit for some Merkins, then to the Lily Pad area for ab work, then to the Corner for 20 yards of agility drills. The beatdown is laid out below.
Round 1
10 Log Curls (Station 1 – the log pit)
25 Merkins (Station 2 – the (fire) Pit of Despair)
25 Big Boy Sit-ups (Station 3 – the Ab Pad)
1 Crawl Bear / Bear Crawl (Station 4 – 20 Yard Agility Station)
Round 2
10 Bonnie Blair with Log
25 Decline Merkins
25 American Hammers
1 Round Trip Hops
Round 3
10 Partner Log Exchanges
25 Incline Merkins
25 2 Count Bicycles
1 Round Trip Cariocas
Round 4
10 Log Squats
25 Dips
25 LBCs
1 Round Trip Heisman
Round 5
10 Jump Squats
25 Basketball Merkins
60 Second Plank
2 Round Trips of Hard Sprints

After everyone made it through all 5 rounds we alternated between holding leg lifts and holding dips in the amphitheater area while I went over the history of The War for the Toledo Strip. We followed that with some Ohio State vs. Michigan trivia, collected the obstacles and headed back to the flag. We when a couple of rounds of ‘Crab Legs Specials and wrapped up in the COT. We did the Counterama and Namerama where Bongo ended up the 6. He talked about how he got his name and what F3 meant to him and how he liked watching the personal growth in others. We ended in announcements and prayer where we sent out a special prayer for Slurpee’s wife in her new job. During the beatdown the Fallen Timbers grounds keeper was working near the group. He mentioned how well our group cleaned up after itself and showed him respect in his role. Bongo was then working on EHing him so you might see him somewhere down the road in a beatdown with us. Great work Bongo!! Also, it was an honor to have Billy Bob down for a beatdown!! Great work Brother!! Not only did the PAX bring the intensity, but they also brought the fun. It can’t be said enough, IT WAS A GREAT HONOR TO LEAD!!
