What the ruck is a ruck?  A hike with a weighted backpack (approx 30 lbs) while stopping along the brisk walk to do some invigorating exercise. Excellent 1st F (fitness) and 2nd F (fellowship). If an FNG (Friendly New Guy) is a bit timid to post for a workout the ruck is a great intro to the pax.

    The Thang:
    Hill workout. Started in the parking lot heading west to Ft. Meigs road. Turned north on Ft. Meigs Road and headed to the north side of the Ft. Meigs property and down the hill to the “backyard” (north side) of the fort. Avoiding ice as best we could made our way east taking 4 trails that shoot up (south) to the fort, sprinting the up hills. Repeato 3 times for 12 up hills. Afterward we moseyed over to the east side of the fort and sprinted the long steep east side hill of the fort. Headed back to the parking lot for the COT – NOR and BOM.

    A hearty, hilly, icy morning run. In an attempt to get in max productivity in our time together we put in a good solid hill workout. Most of the PAX is used to the flat NW Ohio landscape. It was therefore decided a change of scenery and a deviation from the standard Tuesday morning route would be good to “sharpen our edges” and improve upon any potential weaknesses in our running repertoire.
    The hills certainly proved to be a challenge, due not only to the sharp rise of the slope of the hill, but also the fact that they were largely covered with some nice smooth ice. On the descent down the very first hill, it seemed I may not have communicated the expectations of the workout very clearly. I thought half of the PAX decided to play slip-N-slide rather than running down the hill, but I soon discovered the ice would be a worthy adversary for the entire morning. It set the stage for quite the adventure, but I had complete faith in our Toledo F3 PAX. We are a strong brood here in NW Ohio, and we would prove to be the victors over the elements this fine morning.
    As a bonus, God decided he would bless us with a beautiful dusting of serene white snow. What an incredible way to start the day. Five brothers embracing the suck, getting better, getting stronger and growing together!

    It was an inspiration to show up & show out with these men, and most certainly an honor to serve and lead men as fine as these in our Toledo PAX.

    AYE!

    We started the morning off with the F3 Mission Statement, Core Values and the Disclaimer followed by a Counterama.

    We had 5 PAX running and 7 PAX rucking.
    PAX:
    Amadeus, Huckleberry, Ponzi, Bambi, Mile High, Flo, and the Q-Hazmat.

    The Thang;
    The Q started the morning off with his first and deeply regretful mistake. I did not have a flag and what’s worse is that ididn’t even notice it until we were about 3/4 of a mile into the ruck. I quickly recovered took ownership admitted and apologized for my mistake and we continued the ruck. A wise man once said “it’s okay to make mistakes but don’t make the same ones. I assure that will not happen again.

    We had a pretty good pace our goal was to get 3.1 miles in 45 minutes. This goal was not met and I will continue to measure and strive to reach it. We did get 3.1ish but we did it in 50 minutes.

    We had some fresh snowfall as we were rucking and noticed a large amount of people up early starting the morning with excersise. That was a motivating thing to see.

    We returned around the Fort Meigs flag.

    We ended the morning with a count o rama, nobody was missing. Name o rama and circle of trust. The six was Amadeus, his first 6. He did a great job communicating why he keeps coming back and how he is growing into this amazing group of men.

    We prayed for the PAX not there, ones who are struggling, cancer and the families fighting it, first responders and an over all thank you for the ability we were given that morning.

    -The End
